The first time ever I went Geocaching was a couple months ago, back in November, during a family trip to Florida.

One of the days, we decided to do a day trip to a park called Bok Tower Gardens, and the information of the park said it had 6 geocaches hidden throughout the park.

I had heard of geocaching, knew more of less what it was, but had never tried. So I thought it could be a cool activity to do with the kids in the park, since they tend to find boring any parks that do not contain a playground area.

It was fun and it didn’t seem so hard. We found all the 3 caches we looked for, and hubby and the girls really enjoyed. And so did mamma, of course, but I’m the workout/exercise/walking geek of the family, and geocaching is a way to put a purpose on your hiking, right? 😉

But then, I never tried again.

Until today!

Close to my office there is a trail that goes through some woods, and I saw in the geocaching map that the trail had a couple caches hidden there. Things are still slow in the office today (will pick up probably next week) so I decided to go for a long walk in the trail, and once there, why not try to look for the caches?

I looked.

Then I looked.

Then I looked some more.

And I found nothing.

😦

So today’s attempt made me realize it may not be as easy as I though on my first day.

I tried to find 2 of the caches there were apparently in the piece of trail I was walking at.

The first one I looked for I left with the impression I found the right spot, just was not able to spot the cache itself. The trail was all wet, and there are lots of mushy leaves covering everything, as well as moss on the tree trunks. Then, after back at the office and reading the logs for that specific cache I also realized it may be a non-traditional container. It did gave me a better idea on how to look for it, so I’m sure going back there some other day. Probably a drier day, though, for my clothes’ sake.

The second one was on a side trail and I must confess I started getting tired of walking around on wet woods all by myself. I’m still planning to find that one too. But again on a drier day, and maybe with some company to add to the fun.

Anyway, I wish I’ll have a better luck next time.

And as a note to the 2 caches I did not find today: Watch out! I’m going to come and find ya….
