Writing
I used to make a joke that my parents gave so much creativity to my older sister, who turned out to become a writer, that I got just a enough to allow me to be a translator and write well, but without actually creating the stories.
In this blog I’m trying to change this and make my creativity grow.

The last thing I remember was asking the waiter to bring my burger with no cheese and no bun, but wrapped in lettuce instead. Then suddenly I was flying over a crystalline blue sea. Or maybe it was a lake, as it was very round. The color was the prettiest blue/turquoise color I have ever… Read more

They were best friends, one tall and slim, the other short and chubby. They were not the most honest of the people and made a living from stolen items. But on that summer, they made a huge mistake. They were passing by a farm and saw an amazingly gorgeous vegetable garden, growing delicious succulent vegetables.… Read more

It is her first hike ever. Alina is in awe. A funny butterfly crosses her way and she goes after it. After a while, she reaches a clearing with a stunning waterfall. Fluttering all around the place are thousands of the same funny butterflies. Then she realizes they’re no butterflies. They’re fairies! She knew they existed!… Read more

The public was in awe. The tricks performed by the magician were unbeliveably amazing. Some were trying to explain the tricks, some were just accepting that magic may even exist. Then it happened. The mice chewed the loops that held the curtains, and the secret to the tricks was revealed. This post was written in… Read more

They were best friends ever since they can remember. It started at toddler years and their friendship only grew with time. They would laugh together, cry together, suffer together, be happy together. But time went by and their lives parted. Each had their own families and had a great happy time with them. She had… Read more

Yesterday I created a text about a last prophecy, based on a 15-minute writing challenge I saw at the Sentient Ink blog. But then, after posting it, I realized the theme was actually the FIRST prophecy… Hummm… should I simply allow myself to change the theme? Or should I try again? I guess I’ll keep my… Read more

Angel was crossing the street holding her daughter’s hands. It was a busy street at that time of the day, and she was making sure the lights were green for her and no crazy drivers were trying to go on red lights. When they reach the other side of the street, a woman she has… Read more

Summer used to be on my great-grandmother’s house. A few miles from it there was a beach. It was a rocky beach and at the end of it there was a promontory that was covered up with water at high tide, leaving a few rocks surface like islands. The last island was my hideout. I… Read more

I look outside of my window and I see pretty globes. They are blue, some tinted with a bit of purple too. But they are not solid globes. They’re made out of tiny blue/purple flowers. Hydrangeas! that’s the name I was trying to remember, but the name may not matter to you, right? I see… Read more

Rain has filled a big pail in the backyard with water. Then the frost comes and the water becomes a big, cilindrical block of ice. One day, we need the pail inside. I drag it in and warm it up a little bit so the ice comes out. I look at the beauty of that… Read more

Trying on a writing challenge once again (have I ever mentioned that the only occasion when I write is when I decide to take these challenges?). This time, it comes from the Literary Lion and the word of the week is King. I never lived under a King or a Queen, I don’t like war and… Read more

Waves breaking at the shore, sun starting to shine low in the horizon, a breeze blowing lightly and fresh. She stands, watching the waves and feeling the sand between her toes. The sand feels cold. A bigger wave makes the water find its way to her ankles. Good morning, day! written in (late, actually… Read more

On a meeting. Not sure why I’m involved on this. I don’t like it. I don’t want to be here. Right now, I need to create a report for later. Right now, I need to do homework due in tonight’s class. Right now, I’m getting hungry and want to go for a walk before lunch,… Read more

Internet and network are down at the building. Email still works, but with no network, there’s not much to do. On the way to cafeteria everyone seems happy and relaxed. We get several hi’s accompanied by big smiles. We sit down by the window, catching the sun that’s again shining bright outside, and we eat… Read more

Met a friend to go for a walk and then have lunch together. The walk was on the short side for my own standards (I’m a walker), but longer than what my friend thought she could make: 1,5 miles, going around ours and some nearby buildings. By the end of it she was feeling great… Read more

Wednesday the day was though, I barely had time to go potty. Had lunch at my desk working like crazy. But for 1 hour, from 12:00 to 1:00, I attended an event a team I’m part of was organizing. We realized employee satisfaction is not great and one of the points that scores low in… Read more

Just before noon, I’m annoyed by a task I need to do at work. I decide to use lunch time to go for a walk and refresh my mind and mood. It’s cold. I see I’m not the only one who used lunch time to keep moving, although there are less people than when the… Read more

Today I was planning to try to write my second 6th grade essay, as promised in my previous post Writing Challenges, Frogs and Trumpets. But then I got so immersed on creating the graphics that will accompany it, that I almost ran out of time. I’ll still try, but pardon me if it’s not great. I’m… Read more

Last week, the writing challenge here was to create haikus. I don’t usually write poetry, at all, but I took the challenge and created 5 of them: Mt. Rainier, Elephant, Meditation, Sunset and Beach. Then this week, on Monday morning, the guy who organizes the morale events in our team, sends us an email announcing… Read more
